Wallace James Reierson was born on December 21, 1927, in Thief River Falls, MN. He was the son of Peander and Tillie (Nohre) Reierson. Wally graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945.
When Wally was 16 years old, he moved to a farm just south of Thief River Falls with his parents. On July 13, 1956, he married Ivadell Christensen. They made their home on that farm which they bought from his dad. They farmed there together until 1995 when they retired. After retirement, he continued to drive tractor for his neighbors. He was always a farmer at heart. He had a strong work ethic and high moral standard which he instilled in his children.
Wally was a man of strong faith. He lived what he believed and told those around him to always put God first in your life. He held leadership positions in the church and sang in many men's gospel quartets. He had a beautiful singing voice and sang in perfect harmony throughout his whole life.
He had a great sense of humor with a hearty laugh and infectious chuckle. He loved animals and had many farm animals, dogs, and cats throughout his life. One of his favorite things to do was go for a drive in his old pickup with his dog. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and bowling until he was in his nineties.
Wally also had great love for his family. He is survived by his wife Ivadell of Owatonna, children Virginia (Mike) Shuka of Bemidji, Cynthia (Gregg) Swanson of Princeton, Tamara (Erik) Livingston of Owatonna, daughter-in-law Cheryl Furst of Chippewa Falls, WI, grandchildren Elizabeth (Corey) St. Peter, Brian Shuka, Dylan (Channy) Swanson, Kevin (Heather) Swanson, Taylor (Joy) Swanson, , Andrew Reierson (Megan), Kelley Reierson, Jack (Kelly) Livingston, Ruth Livingston; great grandchildren Noah St. Peter, Lydia St. Peter, Toby St. Peter, Brooklyn Swanson, Billy Reierson. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and his son William Reierson.
Wallace Reierson died in his sleep on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the age of 93 years, 8 months and 30 days. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 24 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. The family asks that any memorials be sent to Samaritan's Purse.
