Obituary

Walter Luverne Oeltjenbruns, 87, of Claremont, died Friday, March 6, 2009 at Cedarview Care Center. Walter was born March 13, 1921 in Steele County the son of Fred and Emma (Robeoltman) Oeltjenbruns. Walter attended school in District 25. He married Lois Nelson October 21, 1943 at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna. The couple farmed together in Meriden Township from 1943-1947 at which time they moved to Havana Township to farm there. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where he had been an usher for 65 years. Walter served on the Havana Township Board for 12 years. He was involved in the Steele County Pork Producers and Steele County Dairy Producers Associations. Walter was a member of the Eagle's Club and enjoyed dancing, playing cards, fishing and sports. He is survived by his wife, Lois Oeltjenbruns of Claremont; sons, Dennis (and Loisjeanne) Oeltjenbruns of Marshall, Curtis (and Karen) Oeltjenbruns of Owatonna; grandchildren, Adam (and Stacy Stefanick) Oeltjenbruns, Joy (and Jarad) Taylor, Seth Oeltjenbruns, Alan (and Lisa) Oeltjenbruns of Owatonna, Paul (and Katy Zuehl) Oeltjenbruns, Mark (and Jessica) Oeltjenbruns; great grandchildren, Andraela Oeltjenbruns, Kyle, Makyah Kayden Stefanick, Jett, Jackson, Jaylin Julie Taylor, Matthew Anderson, Tiffany Amanda Schiprett; brothers, Milton (and Geraldine) Oeltjenbruns of Owatonna, Lester (and Betty) Oeltjenbruns of Owatonna; sisters, Viola (and Kenneth) Pitman of Owatonna, Marcella (and Elton) Tuttle of Medford, Arlene (and Everett) Sahl of Longmont, CO and nieces and nephews. Walter was preceded in death by one grandson and one brother. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, March 9 from 5-8pm and at St. John Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 12:30-1:30pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 1:30pm at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church, Cedarview Care Center, Homestead Hospice House or to the donor''s choice.
