Wayne Sylvester Mundt, 71, of Owatonna, died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester. He was born March 14, 1947 in Owatonna the son of Sylvester and Mary (Fischer) Mundt. After attending Owatonna Schools, Wayne worked on a local farm raising cattle and for his uncles as a carpenter. He worked for a brief time at OMC and Year Round Cab prior to starting his 43 year career with Wenger Corporation. Wayne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Eagles Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his cabin near Outing for 15 years. He also enjoyed gardening, yardwork and making or fixing things. He enjoyed using his handyman skills to help others with projects they needed to get done. Wayne loved to eat and truly enjoyed good food. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Mundt of Owatonna; son Jonathan Mundt of Owatonna; daughter Katie Hedberg of Owatonna; grandchildren, Ethan and Kyah Hedberg, MacKenzie Mundt; brother, James (and Diane) Mundt of Owatonna; sister, Debbie (and Marvin) Spindler of Owatonna; uncle, Victor (and Esther) Fischer of Blooming Prairie and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Jason Mundt. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday from 4pm to 7pm and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 10:30am at Trinity Lutheran Church with Intern Pastor Madison Chelberg officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
