Wencl J. Dostal, age 98, of Owatonna, died Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Owatonna Hospital. Wencl was born July 15, 1916, in Havana Township, Minnesota the son of John and Josephine (Jirousek) Dostal. He entered the United States Army and served during WWII from 1942 until 1945. He was united in marriage to Marian Styndl on February 14, 1942 at St. John Lutheran Church. Marian stayed in Owatonna while Wencl was in the service. After receiving his honorable discharge he returned to Owatonna and here the couple made their home. Wencl worked for 18 years with his brother-in-law, Bob Panzer, in the painting and wallpaper decorating business. He began Dostal decorating that he had for 24 years. Marian died April 2, 2014 after celebrating 72 years of marriage. Marian and Wencl enjoyed traveling to various places throughout the United States. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening and square dancing. He was a member at St. John Lutheran Church and was very active with the VFW in Owatonna. He is survived by a son, Larry (and Cathy) Dostal of Owatonna; two daughters, Anne Panos of Woodstock, IL; Judy Halverson of Baxter, MN; six grandchildren, Jeremy Knippel, Jennifer (and Scott) Estrem; Michael Dostal; Michelle (and Ben) Sunde; Joshua Panos; Jacob Panos; four great grandchildren, Maximillian Estrem; Michael Estrem; Isabell Sunde and Anika Sunde. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian (2014); his parents, a son at infancy; a grandson, Blake Panos; his brothers, Harry (1999); Donald (2014); John and his sisters, Margaret, Josie, Mildred and Elsie. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
