Wendy J. Evenson, 75, of Faribault, passed away on April 29, 2026, at Mill City Senior Living after a long fight with dementia. The world lost a very gracious women, she will be missed by all who knew her.
She was born September 10, 1950, in Owatonna, the daughter of Jack and Jo Ann (Prestegard) Etherton. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1968, and graduated from Winona State University with an Elementary Education degree in 1972.
Wendy started her career at Northwestern Bell/Qwest Communication as a maintenance administrator in Rochester, where she married Rich Evenson. After 21 years of marriage, she divorced and moved to Chanhassen, where she was a Network Tech at Qwest. She later worked at Best Buy and Jefferson Wells as a tax consultant. She retired in 2012. In her free time, you could find Wendy outside in nature, trimming and caring for her plants.
She is survived by her sister, Jane (Don) Jensen of Webster, WI; nephews, Ryan Jensen of Hugo, and Nathan Jensen of Houston, TX. She is also survived by the love of her life and partner, Dennis Deets, of Faribault.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Jack and JoAnn Etherton.
A celebration of life / visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 11 am - 2 pm with a time of sharing and prayer starting at 1:30 pm at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. Interment will follow at Owatonna Memorial Gardens.
Donations can be given to the Alzheimer Association.
