Wetona Toni P. Anderson, 89, of Owatonna, died Monday, June 22, 2015 at Owatonna Hospital. Toni was born May 31, 1926 in Pierre, South Dakota to Howard and Emily (Falk) Skelton. She moved to Austin, MN in 1932 where she attended school, graduating in 1944. She then attended St. Lucas Deaconess Nursing School in Faribault, MN and earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. She married John W. Benner on Dec. 21, 1947 and later divorced. While living in Austin, Toni did office nursing and was a supervisor at St. Marks Nursing Home as well as a Physician's Assistant at the Austin Clinic. After moving to Owatonna, MN she worked at Cedarview Nursing Home as a Supervisor, Staff Development Coordinator, and ended her career as Director of Nursing in 1990. She married Donald M. Anderson on Nov. 26, 1975 and they later divorced. Most important in her life were family, church, and friends. Toni's interests included reading, volunteering, water aerobics, and exercise classes. She belonged to Owatonna Women's Club, two book clubs, and was a long-time member of Senior Place, volunteering 10 years as a Receptionist, Travel Escort, and Lefse Roller. She was also the first female president of Senior Place Board of Directors as well as an active member of St. John Alter Guild and Eucharistic Ministry, delivering Communion to shut-ins. She is survived by her son, Paul (Lori) Benner of Mason City; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother Terry (Rachel) Skelton of Bloomington; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, John Benner; daughter, Barbara Feder; and brother, Howard Skelton. Visitation will be at St. John Lutheran Church on Saturday June 27, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM . Funeral services will be held Saturday June 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.
