William Gerard Reynolds, 85, of Owatonna, died Friday, November 27, 2009 at Traditions II. He was born October 2, 1924 in Boston, Massachusetts the son of William and Catharine (Joy) Reynolds. Bill graduated high school in 1942 in Amherst, MA. He attended Dartmouth and Amherst Colleges graduating from Amherst College in 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Bill spent his entire career in the insurance industry working in Hartford, CT, Chicago, IL, and Boston, MA before joining Federated Insurance Company in Owatonna in 1955. He retired from Federated Insurance in 1987. Bill was a golfer and long time member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars as well as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Reynolds of Owatonna; step children, Wayne Hermanson of Owatonna, Roger (and Deb) Peterson of Mooresville, NC, Howard (and Barb) Peterson of Berwyn, PA, Richard (and Gretchen) Peterson of Eden Prairie, Gary (and Vini) Peterson of Palm Desert, CA, Sue Whitney of Orono; sister, Beverly (and Howard) Main of Belchertown, MA as well as many nieces, nephews grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Samsel; sister, Joy Heath; stepdaughter, Jean Hermanson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday from 4pm to 6pm and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 1pm to 2pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 2:00pm at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend John Lestock officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer''s Association in care of Dave Jensen, American Cancer Society or to the donor''s choice.
