Cory Michaelson Owner/Funeral Director

Cory attended St. Cloud State Univ. and the Univ. of Minnesota graduating in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science. He worked with his father at Michaelson Funeral Home throughout his school years and continued as a licensed Funeral Director / Mortician since 1996. Cory graduated from Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota earning a Master of Business Administration degree in 2014.

Jordan Reinhart Funeral Director

A native of the rural New Ulm area, Jordan started her journey in funeral service at age 15, when she began volunteering at the local funeral home. She did post-secondary enrollment option in high school, graduating in 2018 with much of her associate degree completed. After finishing her education at Minnesota State University, Mankato, she earned her degree in mortuary science from Des Moines Area Community College in 2020. She then completed her internship at a funeral home in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Jordan sees tremendous value in funerals as a way for families and friends to say goodbye to someone they loved, and she is happy to serve families of all religious and cultural backgrounds. Jordan is excited to join the Michaelson Funeral Home staff and looks forward to getting to know the Owatonna community.

Cassie Fortsch Funeral Director

Cassie’s hometown is Wanamingo. She has made her home in Kenyon with her husband, Andy and son, Caden. She is a 2010 graduate from the University of MN Mortuary Science Program.  Cassie is dedicated to her profession and recognizes the gift in helping those families we serve.

Corbin Brocker Funeral Director/Intern

Corbin Brocker grew up and attended school in Lake Crystal, Minnesota.  After high school, he attended Riverland Community College receiving an Associates of Arts degree. Corbin then served four years in the United States Navy before returning to school at the University of Minnesota, and graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mortuary Science.

Corbin and his wife Laura are very excited to be a part of the Owatonna community. Corbin and Laura are proud parents of a rescue dog, Denver. Outside of work, he enjoys watching and playing soccer, driving around in the Jeep with the doors off, going to the gym and spending time with family and friends. He is looking forward to helping families honor their loved in a personal and meaningful way. He joined Michaelson funeral home in January 2021.

Ray Bartlett Funeral Director

Ray grew up in Nebraska and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science.  He spent the majority of his career in Litchfield, Minnesota and helped his wife Shannon raise their three sons.  He joined Michaelson Funeral Home in June of 2021.

Gene 'Swede' Michaelson Funeral Director

Gene served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 - 1970. He attended St. Cloud State University and the University of Minnesota graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science. Gene worked as a funeral director in Owatonna and Austin, MN before purchasing the funeral home in Owatonna in Jan. 1979. He has been a licensed funeral director since 1972.

Doyle Hofer Funeral Director

Doyle is a 1985 graduate of Northwestern University, St. Paul, MN, with a B.S. degree in Business and a 1996 graduate of the University of Minnesota with a B.S. degree in Mortuary Science. He has worked as a funeral director in Little Falls area most of his career. He joined the staff of Michaelson Funeral Home in April, 2016.

April Paxton Family Services Coordinator/Certified Grief Recovery Specialist

April joined Michaelson Funeral Home in January of 2016 as the Family Services Coordinator. She has lived in Owatonna for over 25 years and considers the Owatonna community her home. April’s background in Sales and Customer Service will help bring support to all of the families that Michaelson Funeral Home serves.
